"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Halloween Kills" won the domestic box office with a $50.4M debut, the biggest horror opening of the pandemic era. The slasher movie also launched Friday on Universal's sister streaming service Peacock, which didn't disclose any viewership number for the pic. Overseas, "Halloween Kills" earned an estimated $5.5M from 20 markets for an early global cume of $55.9M.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: "No Time to Die" placed number 2 with $29.3M as it nears the $450M mark globally. Behind it was Sony's (SONY) "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" with another $16.5M from 4,013 locations. "The Addams Family 2" placed number 4, earning $7.2M from 3,607 theaters. Rounding out the top five, Disney's (DIS) "The Last Duel" grossed an estimated $4.8M in its debut weekend.
