"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
Sony (SNE) and Disney-owned (DIS) Marvel Studios' "Spider-Man: Far From Home" dominated in its second weekend, earning another $45.3M in North American from 4,634 theaters for a $274.6M cume. Globally, the pic reached $847.1M, grossing another $100M overseas over the weekend. "Far From Home" received 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Disney's "Toy Story 4" held steady at number 2 with another $20.7M domestically and $48.1M overseas in its fourth weekend. Behind it was Viacom (VIAB) subsidiary Paramount's "Crawl," debuting with an estimated $12M. Disney’s subsidiary Fox's "Stuber" also disappointed, placing number four in its opening weekend with just $8M. Rounding out the top five, Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Yesterday" posted another $6.8M for a domestic total of $48.3M and a global cume of $80.5M.
